The Iowa Arts Council is excited to announce Nov. 15 is now known as Arts in Education Day in Iowa. Thanks to the efforts of Miss Iowa Emily Tinsman, the Iowa Cultural Coalition, the Iowa Alliance for Arts Education and countless arts educators and supporters across the state, Gov. Kim Reynolds signed an Arts in Education Day proclamation at the State Capitol last week. An ardent supporter of the arts and arts education, Reynolds was awarded an Americans for the Arts Public Leadership in the Arts Award in 2016 for State Arts Leadership. From displaying the Iowa Women’s Art Exhibition in her formal office to presenting the biennial Governor’s Arts Award at the Iowa Arts Summit, Reynolds recognizes the integral role that arts play in education and community building.
